Plot summary
Professor Frankenstein lectures at a university, and in private he means to build a human being out of the bodies of the dead. Dr. Karlton is drawn into the work as an unwilling accomplice. The professor takes a body from an accident back to his laboratory, which doubles as a morgue and holds spare human parts in its drawers. Margaret serves as his secretary, and her job is to keep callers away from the laboratory. She grows suspicious of what happens there. Under the professor's house is a pit that holds an alligator. The figure the professor puts together is a teenage boy.

- According to producer Herman Cohen, the alligator hired to appear in the film had previously been used to dispose of the bodies of victims of real-life serial killer Joe Ball, from a small town outside San Antonio.
- Producer Herman Cohen was commissioned to make this film and Blood of Dracula together after a Texas theater exhibitor asked American International Pictures for two new horror films in time for Thanksgiving, and both scripts were written and shot in only four weeks, forcing Cohen to slash production values.
- The film was shot in black-and-white, but the ending sequence was filmed in color to give the monster's final scene extra visual punch.
