Charles Herbert

Charles Herbert was an American child actor who worked largely in the 1950s and 1960s and was born in Culver City, California. He began acting at age four with an appearance on the television series Half Pint Panel and, before his teens, drew notice for a brooding, adult manner that let him hold his own opposite major stars. His features included The Night Holds Terror (1955), The Fly (1958), The Colossus of New York (1958), Houseboat (1958), Please Don't Eat the Daisies (1960) and 13 Ghosts (1960), for which William Castle gave him top billing at twelve. A celebrated turn as a blind child came in a 1956 episode of Science Fiction Theater. His final feature and starring role was The Boy and the Pirates (1960). Screen parts thinned after that, and he moved to television work, including The Twilight Zone and The Fugitive, ending a 14-year career with 20 films and more than 50 television shows.
