Biography

Carolyn Purdy-Gordon is a former American actress who also wrote plays and worked as a chef. Born in Michigan in 1947, she co-founded the Organic Theater Company in Chicago, where she co-wrote thirty-seven plays produced from the 1970s into the early 1980s, among them the world premiere of David Mamet's Sexual Perversity in Chicago and Warp, which briefly reached Broadway. She is best known for roles in Re-Animator (1985), From Beyond (1986), Dolls (1987) and The Pit and the Pendulum (1991), in which her characters often met grisly ends.
