Biography

Caroline Langrishe is an English actress who trained at the Elmhurst Ballet School before turning to acting. Born in Marylebone, London, and raised in Kent from 1964, she made her debut in 1976 in the BBC production The Glittering Prizes and took the role of Kitty in a BBC1 adaptation of Anna Karenina the following year. Her first big part came in a British adaptation of Les Misérables (1978), and she played Janet Holywell in a film version of A Christmas Carol (1984). Onstage she worked with Peter Gill, taking the part of Anya in his 1978 production of The Cherry Orchard, and she appeared in Kenneth Branagh's Twelfth Night. She is well known for playing Charlotte Cavendish across two series of the BBC drama Lovejoy, and she played the Dowager Countess Anne Camoynes in Sharpe's Regiment (1996) and Sharpe's Justice (1997). Later television work includes Judge John Deed and Casualty.
