Boris McGiver

Biography

Boris McGiver is an American actor who arrived at acting later than most, after an early plan to enter the U.S. Airforce Academy. He was accepted into its class of 1984 but was let go at the last minute, and that detour pointed him circuitously toward acting. Born in Upstate New York, he graduated from NYU's Graduate Acting Program and has credited the acting teacher Ron Van Lieu with helping him begin to understand the craft. He became known for roles including Tom Hammerschmidt in House of Cards, Hersh in Person of Interest, Marimow in The Wire, and parts in Turn and John Adams, as well as Lincoln (2012) and Taxi (2004), among other work.
