Billie Seward
Biography
Billie Seward, a motion picture actress of the 1930s, was born in Philadelphia in 1912 and died in 1982. Her early work included a December 1933 engagement with Lou Holtz in the Gold Room of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. After spending three months in Hollywood, she signed with Columbia Pictures. At Columbia in 1934 she took a starring role alongside Richard Cromwell in Among the Missing. Wallace Ford later joined her and Cromwell for Hot News, a film eventually released as Men of the Hour (1935). Ford Beebe wrote three 1935 westerns in which she appeared: Law Beyond the Range, The Revenge Rider, and Justice of the Range. Her casts on those westerns included Colonel Tim McCoy, Ward Bond, and Ed LeSaint. She played Gladys in the RKO release One Crowded Night (1940), which Bosley Crowther reviewed as a routine multi-plot melodrama.
