Bernard Fox
Biography
Bernard Fox was a Welsh actor who began performing as a child and became known for comic character roles on television and in films. Born in Port Talbot, Glamorgan, into a family of stage actors, he started his film career at 18 months old and later worked as an apprentice assistant manager at a theater. After serving in the Royal Navy, he resumed acting and appeared in over 30 films from 1956 to 2004. On television he played Dr. Bombay in Bewitched, Colonel Crittendon in Hogan's Heroes, and Malcolm Merriweather on The Andy Griffith Show. His film work included Max in Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (1977), the voice of Chairmouse in The Rescuers (1977) and The Rescuers Down Under (1990), and Winston Havelock in The Mummy (1999). He died in 2016.
