BarBara Luna
Biography
BarBara Luna is an American actress born in Manhattan who worked in musicals, films and television. She started on Broadway with South Pacific and The King and I, then toured as Lotus Blossom in Teahouse of the August Moon from December 1954 to June 1956. Her film debut came in Tank Battalion (1958), after which Mervyn LeRoy cast her as the blind Camille in The Devil at 4 O'Clock (1961). Her other movies include Five Weeks in a Balloon (1962), in which she played Makia, plus Ship of Fools (1965), Firecreek (1968) and The Concrete Jungle (1982). On television she was Lt. Marlena Moreau in the Star Trek episode Mirror, Mirror (1967), and she later appeared in the internet fan series Star Trek: New Voyages. She also performed in West Side Story as Anita and in A Chorus Line as Diana Morales, and the Manila International Film Festival gave her a lifetime achievement award.

First role
In the original Broadway production of South Pacific, Luna took the part of Ngana. She was also one of the performers who helped sing Dites-Moi, the opening song of the show.
First role
Luna did not want to leave school to go on tour, so she tried out for and got the understudy part of Lotus Blossom in Teahouse of the August Moon. After finishing high school, she was given the starring role and toured with the company from December 1954 to June 1956.
Beyond film
In 1976, Luna played Diana Morales in the "New" New York cast of A Chorus Line, which turned out to be her final Broadway show. A cabaret act was then prepared for her because of that performance.

In five different companies of West Side Story, Luna took the role of Anita. One of those productions was a revival staged at Lincoln Center in New York City.

Luna's opening night at Freddie's in New York City earned rave reviews, which brought her engagements at clubs in Atlantic City and Los Angeles and at the Concord Resort Hotel in the Catskills.
