Biography
Andy de la Tour is an English actor and screenwriter who was born in Colchester in 1948. He has appeared in films such as Plenty (1985), Roman Polanski's Oliver Twist (2005), 44 Inch Chest (2009), The Confessions (2016), Notting Hill, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He has also acted on television in Bottom, The Young Ones, and Filthy Rich & Catflap, as well as Kavanagh QC and The Brief. His stage work includes Harold Pinter's No Man's Land at the National Theatre in 2001 and Alan Bennett's People there in 2012. His television writing credits include Lovejoy, Clem, Boon, The Vet, Peak Practice, and Kavanagh QC. His play Safe In Our Hands won the LWT Plays on Stage Award. During the 1980s he performed stand-up with Ben Elton, Rik Mayall, and French and Saunders, and in 2012 he wrote Stand-Up or Die, drawing on his years doing stand-up in New York.
