Plot summary
After a robot rebellion nearly destroys society in 2033, the survivors live either as slaves in the last city, New Terra, or as nomads in the wastelands. Slaves toil to power the city or fight in games the Dark One stages for entertainment, contests meant to weed out the strongest before they can rebel. Neo, a drifter, reaches a factory outside New Terra with his robot sidekick. There he meets Deeja, who wants his help to rescue her father, a scientist whose machine can cut the Dark One's grip on the factory slaves. Neo and Deeja set off for the Power Station, collecting allies as they go.
