Trailer

Plot summary

Nim Rusoe, fourteen, lives on the island with her father, Jack Rusoe, and the wildlife that shares it. Permission has been granted to the operators of the ship Buccaneer to build a pirate resort there, and Nim and her father each take their own route to stop the development. Her father goes to the mainland, leaving Nim behind. Edmund, a city boy who has met Nim once and wants to see her again, runs away from home and reaches the island, and poachers arrive with him. With Jack away and her animal companions unable to guard the island alone, Nim has to work alongside Edmund, the first human friend she has made.
