Plot summary
Jackie Morrison is a CCTV operator in Glasgow, watching over the Red Road Flats. She lives alone and has occasional sex with Avery, a married colleague. Then she recognizes a man on her monitor and begins asking about him. He is Clyde Henderson, released early from prison for good behavior and facing a return to a cell if he steps out of line. Jackie tracks him on the cameras, follows him to a cafe, and learns of a party at the flat he shares with Stevie, his former cellmate. She gets inside.

- Red Road was made under an unusual constraint: it was the first entry in a planned trilogy called Advance Party, whose rule required every film to be shot in Scotland, use the same characters and cast, but be helmed by a different first-time director each time.
- The film takes its name from the Red Road Flats in Glasgow, tower blocks that were the tallest residential buildings in Europe when they were built, and much of the story is set among them.
- The film was shot largely in a Dogme 95 style, using handheld cameras and natural light rather than conventional studio lighting.
