Plot summary
Mangalassery Neelakandan is burdened by liabilities, while his son Karthikeyan goes out to earn and becomes a wealthy liquor baron. Neelakandan does not approve of the way his son makes his money, and the two grow apart. Mundakkal Shekharan, an industrialist who owns a multispecialty hospital, served a prison term for killing Neelakandan's friend Kunjananthan on the day Neelakandan married Bhanumathi, and he has not forgiven Neelakandan for cutting off his right hand. Shekharan takes charge of a bank burdened by debt so that the mortgaged Mangalassery ancestral house can be taken from the family. Bhanumathi, who is ill, comes to Shekharan's hospital for treatment, and Shekharan refuses to let her be treated there.
