Plot summary
Mulla lives in Lakshadweep in the care of Moosa, a fisherman. He wears baggy clothes and stays away from school, where bullies put lipstick and a veil on him. He copies the mannerisms of Akbar, the elder brother who left the island for Mumbai and never returned, and Moosa tells him he will not become Moothon by wearing his clothes. Mulla thinks an affair with Aamina took Akbar away and gets her phone number. After Moosa slaps him for striking back at the bullies, Mulla rows out at night; a wave capsizes the boat and a ship pulls him from the water.
