Plot summary
Rani Mehra is a sheltered 24-year-old from a traditional Punjabi family in Delhi, two days from her wedding when her fiancé Vijay Dhingra backs out. He says that living abroad has changed his lifestyle and that her habits no longer suit him. After a day shut in her room, Rani asks her parents for permission to use the honeymoon booking on her own, and they agree. Paris overwhelms her at first and she considers flying home, until Vijayalakshmi, a hotel employee, takes her around the city and introduces her to things Vijay had forbidden, among them dancing and drinking. She then travels to Amsterdam, where her hostel room is shared with Taka from Japan, Tim from France and Oleksander from Russia, and the four explore the city together.
