Plot summary
TV personality Carrie Madison drives to the home of Dr. Hartmann, a scientist who claims his machine can send people to another dimension. Earthquake tremors cause her to crash into electrician Dan Roebuck, wrecking his pickup, and the two argue. At the house, Hartmann demonstrates the device and vanishes. Dan arrives looking for help, and the two of them disappear as they examine the machine. Carrie finds herself alone in Vonya, a parallel world that looks prehistoric, where time runs differently. She and Dan cannot find the Doctor, and savage cavemen and the warlord Kleel, who takes an interest in her, stand between them and a way home.
