Plot summary

Teenagers Darnell Jackson and Tracy Lavelle live in Chicago. Darnell convinces Tracy to forgo college and enlist in the military. They leave their city behind and take part in an effort to help Ukraine against Russian forces. The mission does not go as planned. Darnell then returns to Chicago, where he must face a corrupt mayor, new enemies, and a city full of hate.
