Plot summary
A polar bear mother and her cub swim across water that was once Arctic ice. Her own early years return to her as she travels with her young. She grew up alongside a twin brother as their mother kept watch over them, hunted seals, and stayed alert for the male polar bears that threaten cubs. The family once came upon a dead whale, and many bears gathered to feed on it. In the present day, mother and cub survive in a disappearing Arctic, and the mother's memories of her own youth prepare her for the challenges of raising her cub.
