Plot summary
In 2047 an unknown alien life-form, which the military codenames FOS, descends on Earth and destroys the world's major cities in a single blow. Survivors band together to fight back and, three years later, raise the Diffuser, a planetary shield that stops further invasions. By 2053 the Planetary Defense Forces Alliance is mounting one last counterattack, an operation that needs a powerful weapon deployed and the Diffuser switched off, leaving the entire planet vulnerable again. Among the soldiers is Taishi Akejima, whose father was killed in the first wave six years before, and he wants his shot at the aliens responsible.
