Plot summary

After the Global War ends, the soldier Deunan Knute is pulled from the badlands by Hitomi, a Second Generation Bioroid, and finds herself in Olympus, a technocratic city whose people are half human and half clone. When she tries to leave, Briareos Hecatonchires, her former lover and now a cyborg, stops her. Olympus is run by Prime Minister Athena Areios, General Edward Uranus III and a Council of Elders, while a synthetic technocrat called Gaia observes and administers everything from the building Tartaros. Deunan joins ESWAT, the city's counter-terrorism organization. The Bioroids live shorter lives than humans because their reproductive capabilities are suppressed, and the Appleseed data, which could restore them, still exists somewhere.
