Breaking Out (1999) on Netflix

Plot summary

Reine is a stage actor who leaves his job, worn down by a boss who messes people around. He takes a position at Kumla Prison with the aim of putting on a play there, acted by the prisoners. At first the men show little interest in the idea. Then five of them agree to take part, having worked out that a production could put them on a stage outside the walls, and that a theater outing would give them a chance to get away. They join with that in mind, while the wish to act in the play itself also grows on them.
