Plot summary
Wendy, John and Michael Darling are English children whose father is stuffy and economy-minded while their mother is lovely and kind. A large fluffy dog guards their nursery, and the dog's house stands inside that room. The three children join Peter Pan, forever youthful, on a journey to Neverland, where pirates and other beings cross their path, and the pirates sing and dance. An exotic blue alligator with the sound effects of an alarm clock is also part of the story.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Peter Pan Live! (2014)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The special's Tinker Bell was a CGI character rendered live and controlled by a technician, who made her show emotions and thoughts by changing her size and color.
- Because the crew had freedom to revise the show, producer Neil Meron brought in Irene Mecchi, best known for writing The Lion King, to "strengthen and deepen" the portrayal of Captain Hook.
- "When I Went Home", a Peter song cut before the musical's 1954 premiere because try-out audiences gave it a "subdued" reaction, was restored here; Meron said it would help viewers understand Peter Pan more.
- The song "Ugg-a-Wugg", which had racially insensitive lyrics, was rewritten as "True Blood Brothers" for the special, while "Oh My Mysterious Lady", written with Mary Martin in mind, was cut.
- The special was part of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Covid-19 YouTube series The Shows Must Go On, but its planned 48-hour run from June 5, 2020 was postponed to June 20 in response to the Black Lives Matter movement.
