Plot summary
In prison, a dying inmate asks Oscar Bonsetter to punish the sadistic guard who killed him, and offers word of a hidden stash of money in exchange for the promise. Oscar agrees. After his own release from prison, he goes looking for the guard, Tom Gullerman, and finds the man blind now, living with his beautiful wife, Rose. Rose hates the life she has, and the attention that Oscar pays her is welcome to her. The revenge that he came for keeps sliding further away the longer that he spends in her company, and his attraction to Rose only grows.
