Plot summary
A surgeon says the objects he takes out of people are advanced implants: nanotechnology microchips that aliens put in them, part of a claim that beings not of this world keep watch over the planet. The inquiry opens out into abduction accounts, what are described as scalar wave transmissions, and a supposed program to study or control humanity. Its aim is to test whether the implants are genuine technology from another world. Patient Seventeen, the person at the center of the case, is interviewed, and the means of checking include black lights, a scalpel and a stud finder. A materials scientist and a nanotechnician also appear.
