Finding Vivian Maier (2013) on Netflix

Plot summary

While working on a history book about his Chicago neighborhood in 2007, a real estate agent buys a box of negatives at a local auction. He finds nothing he can use, but the images strike him as the work of a serious photographer. He scans them, sets up a darkroom, and posts about a hundred online. The negatives belong to Vivian Maier, a French-American woman who spends decades as a nanny and housekeeper for families in Chicago and carries a camera wherever she goes. She dies in 2009, unknown as a photographer. The real estate agent acquires more of her boxes, including hundreds of thousands of negatives, prints, and undeveloped rolls. To understand the woman behind the camera, he tracks down her former employers and the children in her care.
