Plot summary
Jack Willis drives trucks in the Queensland outback and has written a romance novel that sells well. Because of its romantic content he put it out under the name of Ruby Vale, a friend of his who flies cropdusters in Lucktown. When Ziggy, a publicity officer from the publisher, arrives to meet the author, Jack tells Ruby what he has done and asks her to play along, promising in return to pay for her wedding to Hamish, the local veterinarian. Ruby agrees, though Hamish is a man of few words and does not share her love of flying. Ruby and Jack drive to Sydney to promote the book.
