Plot summary
Charles Bradley edits a newspaper and has been in contact with Kim, a whistleblower holding evidence that Los Angeles police officers are dealing stolen drugs. The two arrange a meeting where Kim will trade his evidence for cash. A private investigator Charles hired to watch the officers loses his cover and gets into the home of Charles's son Joey, hiding a wiretap recording of the conversation there. Ryan, one of the officers, kills him. Joey returns to the apartment, finds the body, listens to the recording and writes down the code Charles and Kim discussed, then hands the tape to Detective Wexler. Word of the code reaches Ryan, who goes back to the apartment.
