Plot summary
Rupert Murdoch's media enterprise reaches across the globe, and the concentration of ownership behind it raises the question of what happens to press freedom when one person controls so much of the news. Fox News Channel's claim to be "Fair and Balanced" is set against its coverage before and after the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and against studies that give Republican politicians more airtime than Democrats, with the George W. Bush administration receiving the most attention. Former Fox News journalists, among them Jon Du Pre and Larry C. Johnson, describe incidents in which they say the network pushed them toward a Republican line, and memos written by a senior Fox executive are presented. Media experts such as Jeff Cohen, Bob McChesney and David Brock provide context.
