Plot summary
Balthazar Malone comes from a rich, politically connected family in New York City. He spends his evenings making social media videos that play up his feelings about gun violence in schools. A mocking reply online leads him to write back, and he comes to believe the person on the other end is planning a shooting. During a simulated shooting drill at his school, he becomes infatuated with Eleanor, a classmate who speaks out against guns in America, and he tries to win her over with what he has gathered. In Texas, Solomon Jackson, an isolated young man, lives with his disabled grandmother and has recently reconnected with his father, Beaver, a drug addict.
