Plot summary

The Laemmle family has run arthouse movie theaters in Los Angeles for 84 years, and the chain has stayed a family business through the generations. Its aim has been to put the art of film before audiences and to back the filmmakers whose work it shows. The documentary follows the family across nearly three years as the business faces seismic shifts in the industry and mounting financial pressure. The years bring challenges and losses along with personal triumphs, and family members keep working to hold on to the cinemas they have built. The family is determined that the business will survive.
