Plot summary
Shelley Baum drowns at the koi pond outside her house, and days later her friends Beth Raymond and Leann Cole talk about the funeral. Leann's phone rings with Shelley's number, and the voicemail waiting there is in Leann's own voice, naming a date and an hour. Hallucinations follow her, and Beth arrives at the overpass just as Leann falls and is struck by a train. Leann's ex-boyfriend Brian Sousa then shows Beth a message on his phone dated minutes ahead. An acetylene tank explodes at a nearby construction site and flying rebar strikes him. Beth meets Det. Jack Andrews, whose sister Jean interned at Saint Luke's with Shelley and died two days before. Beth removes the batteries from her phone and her roommate Taylor Anthony's, but Taylor's phone rings that night.
