Plot summary
Kassa is a Rasta musician who plays with a band. Serena sings gospel in her father's Pentecostal church. They meet while signing up for a music contest whose winner gets twenty thousand dollars and a record deal, and they fall in love. Pastor Johnson, Serena's father, forbids her to see Kassa and wants her to marry a church member. The soundtrack carries tracks by Bob Marley and Shaggy alongside the singing of Kassa and Serena. The record boss behind the contest presses Kassa's band to sign with his label on terms he sets, not the band's. When his heavy tactics fail to move them, the band fights back.
