Plot summary
In Foshan, late in the 19th century under the Qing dynasty, Wong Fei-hung runs the Po-chi-lam clinic, teaches medicine and martial arts, and drills the local militia with his apprentices Porky, Bucktooth So and Kai. Liu Yongfu, commander of the Black Flag Army, shows him a fan inscribed with the unequal treaties China has signed. Siu-kwan has just come back from England; family rank makes her 13th Aunt to Wong, senior to him though they are close in age, and custom keeps their feelings unspoken. Leung Foon arrives with an opera troupe and becomes infatuated with her. The Shaho Gang from Liaoning extorts local businesses, and a fight between the gang and the militia angers the Governor, who blames Wong.
