Plot summary
Val works at a mulch factory and has been offered a promotion, but he is depressed enough to try to kill himself in a bathroom stall at work, stopping only when a co-worker walks in singing. He breaks up with Natasha and quits the factory, then helps Kevin get out of the psychiatric hospital where Kevin had been placed three days earlier after his own suicide attempt. The two agree to shoot each other, but Kevin knocks Val's hand aside, and they settle on one last day together instead. That day goes to unfinished business, beginning at a diner where Kevin runs into the childhood bully who still taunts him.
