Plot summary
Giannis Kolaouzos has studied in Europe and come home refined, a highly regarded politician married to Riri Kalantzi, a woman of high society who has been elected to parliament. His father, Giorgis, owns a tavern in Piraeus. Riri's high-brow relatives and her social circle have not met the taverner, and the couple want him presentable before they introduce him. Giannis and Riri put Giorgis through a daily regimen meant to teach him savoir vivre and turn him into a courteous gentleman. The training is strict and inflexible, and Giorgis does not know what his son and daughter-in-law are preparing him for.
