Plot summary
Aditya Varadarajan, called Aadi, leaves Chennai for Mumbai to work as a video game developer. He rents a room from Ganapathy, a retired bank manager, and Ganapathy's wife Bhavani, a former classical singer with Alzheimer's disease. A colleague's wedding brings Aadi and Tara Kalingarayar together; she is an aspiring architect. Both dislike the idea of marriage. Tara hopes to study in Paris to escape her mother, who wants her to run the family business in Coimbatore. The two spend time together and fall in love. Tara's parents went through a bitter divorce, which shaped her views. Aadi and Tara decide on a temporary live-in arrangement before their careers take them abroad. Ganapathy refuses at first to host an unmarried couple, but Tara's manner changes his mind, and she moves into Aadi's room.
