Plot summary
Cilla McGowan wants a normal life, and she has found work she likes in restoring old houses. She buys her grandmother's Shenandoah Valley farmhouse and sets out to rescue it from ruin. The work is more satisfying to her than her years as a child star were. Her grandmother was famous and died in that house more than thirty years earlier of a supposed overdose. Dreams of the woman haunt Cilla, and her hope for serenity fades. Her neighbor Ford Sawyer becomes part of her life while the restoration goes on.
