Plot summary
The country's three Kazakh tribes are at war with one another, and none has united them since Genghis Khan. Jungar tribesmen of Mongolia hold the Kazakh land, led by Galdan Ceren, the Jungar king. A prophecy promises that someone of Genghis Khan's line will unite his people, so Oraz the Wise travels the country in search of the child who will fulfill it. He finds the infant and protects him from Galdan's warriors. The tale fictionalizes the youth of Ablai Khan, who is a Khan of the Kazakh Horde and defends the fortress at Hazrat-e Turkestan from Jungar invaders during the Kazakh-Dzungar Wars.
