Plot summary
Nina Shah has spent three years in London, and her return to Glasgow is for her father's funeral. The New Taj, his Indian restaurant, is now half owned by Lisa, a friend from Nina's childhood, and the two of them set out to keep it open, aiming for a third victory in the Best in the West Curry Competition. Nina's mother Suman and her brother Kary have other plans, favoring a sale to Raj, another restaurateur. Raj's son Sanjay is the chef whom Nina once left standing at the altar. Nina's friend Bobbi and her younger sister Priya offer the two women encouragement. Nina and Lisa's friendship turns romantic.
