Plot summary
A man in his late thirties, Peter Snowden lives with his mother and posts video logs for an unseen online audience. In one recording he admits to killing her, and explains that she had refused to let him use the house for a dinner with Edward, an old army friend. He tells his sister Vickie and others who call that his mother is away, and he talks to her makeup mirror, which arrives after her death. He leaves messages for Edward, then reaches him and invites him for dinner on Friday, saying his mother has moved away. He repaints the dining room, buys tropical fish named Adam and Eve, and hunts for the espresso machine.
