Plot summary
Peter Foster is twenty-three, an only child who lives with his parents, where arguments between them fill the house. He spends his days doing nothing, and the household ends up at a clinic where a therapist records families on video. After watching his own session, Peter views the tape of an Armenian family in difficulty, who had given up their only son for adoption on arriving in Canada. He goes to their home and presents himself as Bedros Deryan, the son they gave away. The Deryans take him in warmly, and he sets out to mend the poor bond between Azah and her father George Deryan.
