Plot summary
Bhargavi Nilayam has sat dust-covered and empty in a village until a writer arrives and decides to stay, having nowhere else to go. The owner of a restaurant agrees to send him meals, then withdraws that offer once he learns the address, saying the lunch carrier is broken. His friends explain the house's feared reputation: in the 1950s a young woman named Bhargavi was said to have jumped into the well after a romance failed, and villagers hold that her ghost remains. He tells them she would not harm him and speaks to her.
