Plot summary
A young woman sails for Buenos Aires in the 1920s with the elderly husband she is trying to leave. On board she takes the place of a passenger who dies by suicide, and she goes ashore under that woman's identity. A match has supposedly been arranged for her in the city. The household that receives her is a brothel, where tango is danced. The story draws on the white-slavery and prostitution trade of Buenos Aires in those years.
