Plot summary
A portrait of Paul Erdős, a mathematician born in Hungary in 1913 who built a life without the usual marks of success. He held no job and kept no home, carrying what he needed from one mathematics meeting to the next. Over his career he produced more than 1,500 papers with various co-authors and pioneered several fields in theoretical mathematics. Filmed between 1988 and 1991, the documentary follows him through several countries and gathers some of the many mathematicians he worked with, who describe his career, his personal life and the jokes and stories that traveled with him, including the Erdős numbers named after him.
