Plot summary
Heartstrings Press wants to drop the next romance novel from Michael Rothchild. Dori Shephard, a junior editor at the publisher, argues her way into the lead editing job. She tells Michael that the executives consider him ill-mannered and washed up, and that they want to end his contract. Michael agrees to work with Dori for thirty days rather than lose his place at Heartstrings Press. Dori is planning her wedding to her fiancé, Philip, and the work becomes an obstacle in that relationship.
