Plot summary

Mother Teresa lives and works among the poor of Calcutta, where she tends the lepers, the dying and children who have no one. She follows a calling to serve them, and she wants to found a religious institute, the Missionaries of Charity, for that purpose. Such a foundation needs the agreement of the church, so her application reaches the Vatican, and Father Serrano, a priest, is sent to look into it. He arrives doubtful of the nun and of what she proposes. Van Exem has been her spiritual director for years. Her work also brings her up against authorities, the church among them.
