Plot summary
In Moominvalley, Moomintroll cannot decide whether to help Moominmamma with the washing, go fishing with Snufkin or act out a scene with Snorkmaiden. A pirate ship mistakes the bonfire on the cliff for a lighthouse and crashes on the rocks, and Moomintroll dives into the sea to save Mymble. Snorkmaiden, who reads a magazine about her idol Audrey Glamour, proposes a trip to the Riviera, and the Moomins, Snorkmaiden and Little My set sail. Storms and a deserted island delay them, and a box floats ashore full of insects that utter insults and bad language. At the resort hotel The Grand, Moominpappa presents the family as DeMoomin of Moominvalley and they are offered the Royal Suite. Moominpappa befriends the artist Marquis Mongaga, while Snorkmaiden spends her time with Audrey Glamour and the playboy Clark Tresco, to Moomintroll's displeasure.
