Plot summary
Turo Moilanen works at a psychiatric hospital in a Northern Finnish village and sings for an extreme metal band with drummer Jynkky, bassist Pasi and guitarist Lotvonen. In twelve years the four have never played a gig: they argue about what to call themselves, Turo's nerves keep him from the stage, and Pasi points out that the riffs Lotvonen writes come from other songs. Turo also has his eye on Miia, the police commissioner's daughter, and local crooner Jouni warns him off. A reindeer carcass jams in an industrial meat grinder at the Lotvonen slaughterhouse, and the noise gives the band its first original song and a name, Impaled Rektum. When Norwegian promoter Frank Massegrav comes to the farm for reindeer blood, Jynkky hands him the band's demo tape and tells the others they will play his festival.

- Jukka Vidgren and Juuso Laatio met at film school, where they made a mockumentary short about a heavy metal band called Impaled Rektum. They shelved a planned large-scale post-apocalyptic sci-fi film as too ambitious and expanded the short into a feature instead, deciding this in November 2011 and finishing five years later.
