Plot summary
In New York, Charlie 'Lucky' Luciano, Meyer Lansky, Bugsy Siegel and Frank Costello spend their early years in youth gangs, fighting and hustling on the streets and trusting one another above anyone else. The start of Prohibition gives the four a way into organized crime, and seasoned gangsters such as Arnold Rothstein mentor them as they build a bootlegging empire. Their success puts them at odds with the established Mafia bosses, who dislike cooperation between criminal organizations and compete for power among themselves. Disagreements over how to run the business divide the partners.
