Plot summary
Kaylie is a high school senior with a dark sense of humor and few friends. Her popular best friend Daphne asks her to fill in babysitting at the Payton house the night before Halloween, saying she is home sick with the flu. Kaylie passes the evening watching horror films, drinking the Paytons' liquor and trading blows with a group of middle schoolers bent on vandalizing the house. An old neighbor knocks to warn her to stay inside and open the door to no one. She ignores him and lets in Graham, a classmate she has a crush on, who came hoping to find Daphne. Outside, a masked man carrying a large knife moves through the shadows around the house, and Kaylie decides to taunt him into showing himself.
